Positivity IN FOCUS Magazine Features Granby High School Alumni and Youth Leader Extraordinaire Malcolm Woodbury
Positivity IN FOCUS magazine features Malcolm Woodbury in the current quarterly (winter) issue. Malcolm is a 2007 graduate of Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia. Malcolm participated in the Physical Education Leadership Training (PELT) Program during his junior and senior year at Granby.
The PELT program was started by Granby High School physical education teacher Kimberly Baylor. It was developed to help disabled students at Granby to integrate and interact with the students in the rest of the school. Malcolm was one of the students handpicked to participate in the program and helped make it a great success. By participating in the program Malcolm learned special education doesn’t necessarily mean retarded. He came to appreciate persons with disabilities are just like everyone else, only they have special needs.
Malcolm is currently attending Massanutten Military School in Virginia, on a basketball scholarship. But at 6’4”, he is already a step above in his game, not only of basketball, but in showing leadership, marked with exceptional compassion. Positivity IN FOCUS talks in depth about the mutual benefits to Malcolm and others involved in the PELT Program.
